Around a 15hr drive North of Brisbane we come across the coastal town of Airlie Beach. Although fairly small Airlie Beach is extremely poplular with tourists and backpackers wanting a gateway to the Whitsunday Islands.

Most boats will be booked out with other groups of backpackers or tourists. Make sure the boat you choose fits in with the experience you want to have whilst at sea. Some Whitsundays boats will be advertised as dedicated “party” boats so if you are looking for a peaceful and relaxing trip maybe give these a miss, there is a huge amount of choice to find what your looking for.
Whitehaven Beach
One of the most famous beaches is Whitehaven Beach – voted one of the worlds top beaches and well worth a visit along with some of the best diving, snorkeling and swimming you’ll ever encounter.
